No problem. I think you can even import your VMs into Proxmox. Definitely worth a look.

I did a quick look and noted. the price. If I'm interpreting it correctly it's around $5US per month per CPU. My server has 6 cores so that would be about $30US per month for me. Seems a little pricy for a home hobby like mine. Otherwise it does look interesting.

Back to the rebuild for me today. Thanks again for the close attention and patience.

Good news so far. I'm up and running with a newly built control panel. I've loaded many static ip and all looks well so far. DNS and DHCP definitely working as far as I can tell so far. Only thing is that I cannot get to the place to change workgroup name. Thought it was under setup and shares and settings per info you gave me in another post but I cannot find it for life of me. I do have Advanced Settings turned on. I guess I need another hint :-)

BTW, the Proxmox can be used for free. I do not pay and just have a nag message that shows up when I log in to the admin console. There is a hack to disable it as well.

As for the Workgroup, it is in settings, Shares tab. As long as Advanced Settings are enabled, you should see it.

Ok. That's what I thought about workgroup. However, when I go into setup followed by Shares, there is only once choice - Details. If I just go into Shares (no Setup first), the result is the same. And, under Details there is nothing. I've checked and double checked that Advanced Settings is indeed checked. And I've tried this several times. What am I missing?

P.S. I've also done a yum update as su and while it took a while, everthing seemed to work ok. Static IP's seem to be working ok. And Control Panel thinks machine is running. All OK so far :-)

P.P.S. Is it ok to install some apps (e.g. Memorix, Webmin, etc)? I assume that only the ones with Fedora 19 green badge are ok?

P.P.P.S. I've created copy (backup) of the working VM

Might want to clear your browser cache. Then access the Settings and unset/set the Advanced Settings. That is what triggers the Workgroup option.

As for installing apps, I would say if all is working well then move forward. As far as what's LIVE for Fedora 19, you are correct that they are GREEN.

Anything else is BETA or ALPHA and potentially not available or working.

Cleared caches (Firefox), checked and unchecked, got message about advanced features but then no difference. Still only "Details" option. Will keep trying with another browser/workstation.

Thanks for confirmation on Apps.

One other item of question - I exported a copy of the Ubuntu VB hosted VM that seems to be working ok now. I imported it into a Windows/VB host but have not run it yet. My thinking was that I could use this as a backup DNS/DHCP server for network should I have to take my Ubuntu machine down for any reason. I'm thinking that as long as they aren't both running at same time, no one should know difference. Is that right? Do you think I can do this?

On another note, I really, really appreciate the attention you have given me. While I'm trying to get all this to work, iyour answers have been incredibly timely and responsive. Thank you, Thank you!

Really odd that the Workgroup is not showing. Maybe there is something else going on or try a different browser.

That is a correct assumption. Should be fine.

I ended up taking most of day off from my hobby because of real world distractions. But I did manage to get workgroup to work. Not sure how except that it was after at least one reboot for unrelated reasons. Also got my static ip's loaded and all looks well so far. Tried a couple of apps that worked fine ad well. And, I verified that having clone of HDA running as backup on another VM worked (as long as only one running). So all in all it was a much better day than yesterday thanks to your help. I think you can mark this thread resolved. Thanks again for all your help! I will look into the alternative VM when I'm sure my system is on autopilot. Best Regards!
