SOLVED: Ability to change domain ETA

Postby Strangename » Fri Jan 24, 2014 11:17 am

Didn't know where to post this so if it's in the wrong place then I'm sorry.

As I have Amahi v7 installed with Greyhole my HDA does not allow me to change the domain name from WORKGROUP. While the HDA works my apps simply don't work because of the domain name situation.

I keep seeing new app releases which I can't use and it is now starting to get a little bit frustrating. I know that there is a bug associated to this problem but I am wondering if this will be resolved in the very near future?

There is a bug on this one.
https://bugs.amahi.org/issues/1079

However, the ability to change workgroup name has nothing to do with domain name. The workgroup is something for Windows clients more than anything.

If applications are not working, then you have a different issue. The domain name is set when you created the HDA profile and installed Amahi 7. Can you provide more details. Have you tried the network troubleshooter? How about checking /var/log/amahi-app-installer.log for errors?

Hi Bigfoot,

Yes I have run the network troubleshooter and everything has passed. Everything appears to be working but if I try and launch an app I simply get a blank page in my browser using Firefox & Chrome. IE gives me a page for a parked domain.

Am a little bit at a loss right now.

Are you running only one DHCP/DNS server? Also check your client machine to ensure it is receiving it's DHCP and DNS from the HDA.

Those are often the common problems users have with access apps and such.

Hi Bigfoot,

Found the problem - what a muppet - I had the I.P address as dynamic but had the DNS set for OpenDNS and not from the HDA.

Spent so much time looking in the wrong and not thinking about the actual problem.

Thank you for kicking me towards the right direction.
