Hmm. They ought to work.
However, you do not post any details, so it's hard to tell. Details are an absolute must.
Pick one and let's find out what's the problem.
Did the base install work well?
Also, a recommendation is to use the Ubuntu release. It's more recent and should be more supported in general.
This just sounds like a terrible experience and we positively hate that.
So, either install with Ubuntu (or Ubuntu server if you prefer headless setup), or pick one app and provide details please.
Any express cd users in here?

Re: Any express cd users in here?
Interesting. This is self-inflicted I presume as we do not use the Greyhole repo for Amahi. We include the Greyhole files in the Amahi repo intentially. We test new Greyhole releases with the current Amahi platform before we update in the repo.
I presume you added this repo on your own via wiki guidance.

If that is an incorrect assumption, please let us know. I have checked Fedora 14 and Ubuntu 12.04 both 32- and 64-bit and did not see the Greyhole repo file.

Re: Any express cd users in here?
That's interesting. I was not aware that Greyhole had a repo. We definitely do not add third party repos -- only official ones and the Amahi repo. This is a violation of the trust between Amahi the end user.
I am very curious as to how could this happen!
