I'm not a Linux ninja, but thought I might be able to hack setting up Amahi, but I'm stumped.
I've installed from a Fedora 14 DVD, using the basic repo plus the Amahi repo in the instructions. The networking worked fine at that time, apparently.
I read the first post in this list, and also looked here: http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Install ... leshooting and here's what I'm thinking about.
I don't have the ruby installer log file, but I have a folder called amahi-web-installer-log in /tmp, and it has a few files in it, but none seem to indicate there was a problem.
The main thing seems to be the networking--I can't get to any websites at all, nevermind localhost:2000.
I typed in ifconfig, and got 192.168.1.5 for my address; this is the one I used to create my activation code for Amahi.
It was after rebooting the the server (when the installer finished) that the problem started.
I used the Fedora System>Administration>Network menu to check and the eth0 was not active. I went to the DNS tab, and deleted the ip address there, and then was able to activate eth0. Before I deleted it, there was just a primary address, now there is a secondary, as well, both 192.168.1.5
When I reboot, eth0 stays active now, but still unable to get Firefox to reach anything. It defaults to an error message: unable to reach http://www.hda.com/setup in response to clicking the desktop icon for Amahi setup. Manually typing in http://localhost:2000/ or http://www.google.com don't work either.
I know at least one place I saw it written that I should log in to my router and disable DHCP, but I'm nervous that I won't even be able to post this if I do that (currently, my laptop still connects through the router somehow.)
I've come to the bottom of my really limited bag of tricks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

installed but can't reach localhost:2000
Re: installed but can't reach localhost:2000
The http://localhost:2000 is for installing Amahi. I presume you already did that and if so, check the log in root. It should be called hda-install.log. If you could attach it, we might be able to find the problem.
If you did not install Amahi and it was after the Fedora install that you have issues, then there is most likely an issue with Fedora driver for your NIC. That is a whole other area that you will have work out with Fedora.

Re: installed but can't reach localhost:2000
I found the ruby installer log file. Here's the text: http://pastebin.com/zJPNsYkm
The web installer log text is pasted at the beginning.
I noticed the ruby file ends with
[2012-02-25 23:21:38] ERROR SignalException: SIGTERM
/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/server.rb:91:in `select'
So that might be the issue. Looking around on the net, it seems like maybe some other process (from Fedora?) interfered with the install and caused it to crash? Just my best guess based on similar errors I read about in other contexts after a Google search.
Should I just try the install over again? If so, should I format the drive again and start all over, or can I just redo the Amahi install?
Thanks again for any ideas.

Re: installed but can't reach localhost:2000
I would say a reinstall might be best. Something might have went wrong during the initial install.

Re: installed but can't reach localhost:2000
I tried
rm -f /var/cache/hdactl.cache
then
service amahi-installer restart
says it started the service OK, but still can't reach localhost:2000 in the browswer.
Do you think I need to wipe it and start over reinstalling Fedora?
Thanks!

Yes, reinstall would be best. Ensure you follow the instructions on the Amahi website.
