Dual logins

Postby Cotay » Sun Jul 24, 2011 8:51 pm

After completing my installation, I now have two logins when I arrive at the Fedora login page. I followed the instructions to the letter I believe but now have two nearly identical login names. One has my login name capitalized and the other does not. Is is safe to delete either one of these accounts or is this setup as it is intended?

Thanks!

Check the dashboard users tab. If you have 2 there, delete one. It is always best to add/remove users via the dashboard.

The Dashboard has one login name listed as "cotay".

The Fedora login has two accounts listed as "cotay" and "Cotay".

The "Cotay" version was what I first used when installing Fedora. When I set up my account on the Amahi site, I used "Cotay".

Once I setup Amahi, it added the "cotay" account. As noted, the Dashboard has one user listed as "cotay".

Whichever account I log into on the Fedora login will allow me to access the HDA. However, downloads, etc from one account obviously don't appear in another. I have been using the "Cotay" account for all post-installation work (VPN, driver installs, etc.), so I would like to delete the "cotay" login even though that is the username on the Dashboard.

Should this be fine?

Hello,

I would recommend you keep the one in the dashboard and remove the other one. DO NOT create/remove users without using the dashboard or you could cause yourself more issues.

It is best if you do not use title case user names. I tend to keep them all as lowercase. Linux does not like spaces either.
