Hi,
Downloaded Fedora (Kernel Linux 2.6.35.11-83.fc14.i686). Tried to follow guide which states I can add the software source for Amahi during the installation etc but it never happened. It just installed Fedora.
Then found you can't add the source without editing a file called yum.conf...so I did and added the details. Now I can see the packages but they won't install.
Went to Installation Troubleshooting and followed the non-gui version...but when I get to install Amahi I'm getting a message that Ruby-Docs is required...
Have I just cocked this up from the start? No problem re-installing...just need 'basic' instructions as the ones on the site are 'not' clear...

Re: New to this...help with installation please
Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having difficulty with installation. The only supported install method is via Fedora 12 full DVD (32 or 64 bit)
a. Boot to Fedora DVD and begin installation.
b. When you reach the repo section, add a new repo for amahi. Enter http://f12.amahi.org.
c. Then proceed with installation and reboot when prompted.
d. Upon first run of Fedora 12 you will enter your first user.
e. Log into the Fedora desktop and using the desktop link, run the Amahi installer.
f. Enter your install code and submit.
g. Once install finishes, you will be prompted to reboot.
h. Once the system comes back up, Amahi will be installed and you can access it via http://hda.
NOTE: Keep in mind the first user you enter should be one word name and in all lower case. This is what Amahi considers the first admin user. You will use this user name and password to log into the Amahi Dashboard.
Hope that helps. Please let us know how things go.

Re: New to this...help with installation please
Hello,
Can you please point me to the exact Fedora 12 distro to use with Amahi (there are several). Here is the issue I'm having.
-I'm installing on vmware workstation
-I've tried 2 Fedora 12 distros and I never get to here "When you reach the repo section, add a new repo for amahi. Enter http://f12.amahi.org.
-It just installs Fedora, reboots and I log in. Fedora works fine I just can't add the repo's
-I've tried installing from the iso and I also created a DVD. I've tried Fedora-12-i386-DVD and Fedora-12-x86_64-DVD and the option to add the repo never happens.
-Vmware is installed on a core i7 system with 12Gb's of RAM
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,

Re: New to this...help with installation please
Did you follow the install documentation? It shows a screen shot I believe on where to add the repo.
Here's also one from the wiki that might help.
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Fedora_ ... structions
Even though this is for Fedora 14, it will show you the area to add the repo. Then once install is finished, you will log into the hda and execute the install link or you can do it from a client via http://localhost:2000
Here is the site where you can download the DVD ISO.

Hope that helps.

Re: New to this...help with installation please
Thanks for the quick response Bigfoot.
I've read the documentation several times, and yes I see clearly in the documentation where the repo screen appears and what to put in it, my problem is that this screen never appears. The install begins, it prompts me for username/password etc..., but the repo screen never appears. I'm wondering if it's the distro's I'm using or is it because I'm installing in a VM. The FAQ states that many people try out Amahi in a VM so I know it must work.
Thanks for the link, but again, there are several options listed..which would you recommend?
I'll post back if I figure out what's going on.
thanks,
Mark
