Install without video

Postby pr0pel » Wed Dec 01, 2010 12:50 pm

So I have a Scaleo / SS4200-EHW server on the way with no video ports. I tried searching the forums/wiki but I'm still confused as to how I can get Amahi installed without any sort of video access? Do I just pop in the Live CD via USB and it will automatically install on the first drive and get a IP via DHCP from my router or am I missing something?

Thanks

As a follow up, if I use the Amahi Express CD, will it automatically install everything and grab an IP from my router and then I can just access it once I find the IP?

A couple years ago I had to build a Centos and Fedora 10 server with no video. On the Centos Wiki is instructions for building a custom install ISO that brings up VNC and will connect to your VNC client for the install. This worked just great at the time. I could probably dig up the URL for it. It was not too hard to build, but you either need two DVD drives, or copy the DVD drvie to your hard drive as an ISO image.
