I am having a weird problem. My ubuntu box works fine, pc's running xp work fine. But Upgraded two pc's (clean install) to windows 7 and have a vm of windows 7 all have problem getting proper gateway using dhcp.
Has anyone else had this issue? Or anyone know a solution. Right now just set static ip's to take care of the problem.

man ... we are seeing a lot of rather "weird" issues with windows 7 networking!

some people cannot resolve the short urls, some people have intermittent issues resolving them ...

now this ...

is this machine "corporatized"?

if you just use generic, default, plain vanilla, good 'ol DHCP ... what does ipconfig /all show?
can you paste that here?

this is a huge hassle for everyone. thanks for your patience, tho.

i've not had any issues with any of my win7 clients using a mix of pfsense, amahi and vlans yada yada. it simply works. i did have an issue with samba but that's documented.

I have similar setup pfsense router, with amahi acting as DHCP/DNS, no vlans but 2 VPN tunnels one outgoing and one incoming.

If do ipconfig shows all NIC's properly but for tcp/ip, gets a valid IP 192.168.1.104 but gateway set to 192.168.1.90 and I do not have anything on .90 at all.

All 3 of my windows 7 have done the same thing. I reloaded two of the PC's with windows 7 because got spyware really badly. (never let kids use you're PC hahaha)

This is just my home network.

can you post the output of

Code: Select all

ipconfig /all
in one or more of your machines that are having trouble?
