Amahi Forums

Due to a weird set of circumstances, I need my Amahi box to be wireless. My router is in the kitchen, so there is no where to put it there, and I really need the transfer speed between Amahi and my PS3 for HD streaming...

I am also new to linux, which doesn't make things any easier.

Ok, I have followed the very accurate instructions, got F10 and Amahi working on my box (installed while plugged directly into router on kitchen table). I then installed the wireless drivers needed to get a connection up and running, checked it worked, finished installing Amahi, rebooted and Network Manager has been disabled (I assume Amahi now has control?)

How do I get Amahi to work over wireless? The only way I can get a connection back is enabling Netowork Manager that then breaks Amahi. Also, as the server will be wireless, I would prefer to leave my router to handle DHCP, but am happy for Amahi to deal with DNS, is there a guide on how to get this up and running?

Any help here would be amazing, thanks...

Ok, to try and get this off the ground, first I tried editing the hdactl file, this didn't work.

I then went onto editing the network-scripts in sysconfig, swapping out eth0 for ra0 in the eth0 file, changing the device and MAC address, the other settings were the same.

This doesn't seem to have worked either, and with my limited knowledge of linux, this is about as far as I can take things myself. I'm sure this is just a case of correctly fooling the box into thinking that ra0 is eth0 (which I thought I had just managed...)

If I change all my settings back, using network manager I can connect, but this turns the server off...

PLEASE HELP...

Could this be a dns or dhcp issue?

I would love to take advantage of the Amahi dns services, but due to needing to connect the server wirelessly, I don't trust it to handle the DHCP leasing so I have the dhcp server disabled in fedora services (is this correct?)

Ok, I have found a simple and elegant solution to this problem, which will also allow me to take full advantage of Amahi as it was intended.

I'm going to exchange the wireless PCI card that I have for a pair of Powerline Adapters.
