Using 255 in an IP address (not 4th octet)

Postby WiFiNetGuy » Tue Mar 16, 2021 3:44 pm

Hello.

I'm considering putting an Amahi server in a network that currently uses the IP addressing of: 10.255.0.x

Will I be able to have the Amahi in this network? I seem to remember an issue with that years ago but I can't verify that now.

Thanks in advance...

I think it will work though I am not sure.

Because 255 is considered a broadcast octet, I believe it's never used.

Maybe our DHCP server or DNS server complains, not sure, sorry.
