New Router - DNS Problems

Postby tomtheappraiser » Thu Jun 08, 2017 6:46 pm

So I just got a Linksys WRT-1900 AC. I'm trying to get it going but I'm having a number of issues.
I run an AirBnB and had a network troubleshooter staying and asked him to help me to get the Router to allow the server to run the DHCP, since I couldn't get it to disengage.
We got it to the point where Amahi is running the DHCP. When I'm connected via LAN I could get any website, but on Wi-Fi, there are DNS issues with connecting to websites which I have previously not been to.
My guest seems to think that there is an issue with the server and router butting heads over DNS control. He suggested it may be a permissions issue from the server side.

Any help is appreciated in advance

Ensure the HDA is also controlling DNS, both as primary and secondary.

Having any other DNS server active could cause conflicts.

Thanks Big foot.
How do I monitor or ensure that the server is in control of both primary and secondary DNS.

Thanks again for your help

There are different commands to use depending on your client.

For Windows, at the command prompt do:

Code: Select all

ipconfig /all
Check to see that it reflects the HDA for DHCP/DNS server.
