I have recently installed Amahi after trying unsucessfully to carry out the same tasks with Ubuntu (due to my lack of knowledge, not ubuntu's fault) and absolutely love it for its ease of use and functionality. I have noticed though that I have come up against the maximum throughput of the onboard 10/100 network port built in to the motherboard of my server (an older AMD athlon x2 5000+ system with 4gb ram).
I would like to put in a gigabit pci card in, disabling the onboard. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gigabit-Ethe ... Sw~OVWxYnP
Would this be as easy as disabling the onboard in bios, physically installing the new card and rebooting?
CLOSED: Changing Ethernet card
Re: Changing Ethernet card
Probably not.
Please see post install hardware changes. It may be an easy change, depending on how the OS sees the new card.
