Parental Controls

Hey,
I would like to enable some kind of parental controls for my homeserver controlled DNS. What is the best way to do this? This may or may not complicate matters as i flashed my nighthawk router with dd-wrt as this was the only way for me to port forward using my particular set up. Mind you, i am a nube and i am still trying to grasp all of the concepts of the homeserver and how things work so be gentle. A search of the forums had only one link concerning the topic and mentioned using OpenDNS and the parental controls found there? is this the preferred method fo parental control. I have had my struggles with openDNS and could not get it to function properly (most likely because of my nubian nature. With all that being said, what is the preferred method for parental control giving the above referenced information?
