Hallo everyone,

so I got basically 2 problems and I´m not sure if they are related.

Before everything worked fine.

It all began with switching my router to a fritz.box. That resulted in a new IP for my hda. With fritz you can´t set a certain IP while using DHCP, you can only lock a certain IP to a device.

So after the change I wasn´t able to access my internalsites for apps and the hda was shown as offline in the control panel at amahi.org.

I changed the IP range, so that the gateway is the same again and talked to cpg in IRC and he changed my hda's IP in the control panel.

After that the hda was shown as online again.

But still no chance to access the internal sites, not by short URLS, I changed the DNS aliases.

I want to use my routers DHCP and the DNS from the hda. I read through the FAQ, but no accessing via short or long urls.

I tried turning on the hdas DHCP but still nothing.
After I switched back to my routers DHCP the hda lost the internet connection and I had to restart, since it is shown as offline in the control panel.

But the hda has internet access, news are shown in the dashboard, I can download apps and i can ping IPs and URLs.

The only app I can access is plex via IP and port.

A fresh install is not really an option I got way to much data on the server and it would be a real hassel to disconnect all the greyhole drives etc.

So 2 questions, how can I access my app sites again and how do I get my hda to show up as online again.

This sounds like a DNS issue possibly.

First of all, let's start with the URL from the following command:

Next, recommend you take a look at the network troubleshooting guidance in the wiki.

Once the root cause of your issue can be pinpointed, should be able to resolve it.

Ok I did all of the above, but before posting the results one more thing.

30 minutes ago everything was more or less normal when accessing the hda via SSH oder browser the connection was more or less instant, I was able to ping everything and yum update went smooth.
Then I activated the hda's DNS and set my router to the IP of the hda.

Now, when connecting it takes nearly a minute and the server lost the internet connection.

I can still ping IP adresses, but no URLS and also not hda.

Something is blocking yum, too

Because it can´t connect to the update server.

That happens all the time...

What's super strange is, that the DNS seems to work, otherwise I wouldn´t be able to resolve any URLs, but despite the fact, that the hda seems not to have any internetconnection and the ping to hda hangs, the DNS part is functional...

After disabling the DNS in amahi and a restart I was able to do the tests, here are the outputs:

If I´ll active the DNS again nslookup etc just hangs with no output.

Can you now provide the URL?

I really think this Fritz Box is your issue. Since everything was working fine before, there may be a firewall or something in between that is causing the issues.

Is this a brand of router?

Which URL?

Fritz box is the brand yes. It's the common one in Germany.

I have full rights assigned for the hda in the router and the firewall

I would recommend you turn off the firewall and see if that helps. There are many ports which the server uses and if any of them are blocked by the firewall, that could cause issues.

Oh sorry, missed that LOL

I see you are running Amahi 7 on Fedora 19. Have you considered upgrading to Amahi 8 on Fedora 21. We do not provide support for Amahi 7 any longer. It's in maintenance status which basically means no updates to the platform or apps, no new apps, etc.

I really think this has something to do with the new modem/router. Firewall could be part of it. Recommend you try removing as much restriction as you can on the network to see if that helps.

Also have you tried cycling your network? That would involve shutting it all down, then powering up the modem/router followed by the HDA, then clients.

Yeah. I'm afraid of upgrading. I got nearly 20Tb of data on that server.

I will try switching of the firewall and see what happens.

Yes. I cycled the network a couple of times already.

No problem.

If you upgrade, you would need to disconnect your data drives anyway so you could not lose anything. It's only data that is not on those drives that would need to be backed up.
