SOLVED: Can't find DNS and DHCP settings in Amahi 8

Postby jkbuckethead » Sun Oct 04, 2015 3:33 pm

Just completed a from scratch install of Amahi 8.

With my V7 system, my network worked best if I turned off the Amahi DHCP server and left that function to my router. With the new Amahi 8, my router DHCP is turned on and network seems to be running fine. Still, I want to check and confirm that the Amahi DHCP is off.

My V7 install used the Amahi DNS so shortcuts like HDA would work. I use OpenDNS for my DNS. I cannot find where to set the DNS address in Amahi 8.

Any help is appreciated.

Problem solved!

I don't know if I can delete my original post, but I figured I'd leave it so others can benefit from my experience. It turns out that DNS and DHCP settings do not appear until you check the Advanced Settings option on the Settings/Details page.

That is correct. BTW, this is the same behavior as Amahi 7.

The problem is that I turned on Advanced Settings ONCE, a very long time ago. It is easy to forget something like that.

True, just wanted to clarify it was not new :)

That's the first thing I do with a new install. Otherwise I will forget LOL

EDIT: As a reminder, I added a note to the Special Instructions for Greyhole UI to enable advanced settings. That way when users install the app, then will be reminded.
