HDA cannot access the internet

Postby thekiwi » Sun Sep 27, 2015 11:09 am

I have had some issues with my HDA short URLs not being recognized on mobile devices within my home network, but this has not really stopped me setting-up and using Amahi 8 on an old PC. I can access the control panel using HDA/ from a browser on my laptop connected directly to my home network, but not from a wireless device.

I figured I would try and find the issue and went through the troubleshooter. It appears that my HDA cannot access the internet, failing to ping 8.8.8.8:

Any help understanding what I might need to do, either to my network, or within Amahi itself is greatly appreciated.

Sorry - I just added what the troubleshooting guide suggested.

Running Fedora 21 and Amahi 8.

fpaste result.

The only network modification I have made is to set the custom DNS IPs to 185.37.37.37 and 185.37.39.39 per the Unlocator service I use.

httpd/error_log is attached if required.

It's likely the DNS you changed. DO you have the same problems when using OpenDNS or Google DNS vs your current setup?

No, this issue was present before I modified the DNS IPs.

I just tried both OpenDNS and Google DNS and both result in the same error when executing the following:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost ~]# ping -c 1 8.8.8.8 PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) 56(84) bytes of data. From 192.168.1.10 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable --- 8.8.8.8 ping statistics --- 1 packets transmitted, 0 received, +1 errors, 100% packet loss, time 0ms
Any further thoughts?

Is there a firewall on your router? I presume you have disabled DHCP and DNS on your router, correct?

The fact that is is a wireless issue indicates something with the router.

There is a firewall on the router, yes. I was unaware that this might cause a conflict?

I've tried running my router with both DHCP/DNS off and on and still have the same issue. It DOES appear to affect my wired network too. I cannot launch any app from the dashboard. I am always greeted with a DNS lookup failure.

I would suspect the firewall is causing the issue.

Can you turn it off and see how things behave?

You may need to do some research to find out how to work around the firewall. There is probably some settings that need adjusted on the router.
