Reconfiguring to my HDA to use a onboard ethernet & customizing network settings

Postby wlpaul4 » Sun Sep 13, 2015 6:43 pm

Last week the PCIe NIC in my HDA died. In lieu of buying a new card, I'd like to start using the interface on the motherboard.

What files and configurations do I need to change in order to do this?

Also, I would like to change the size of the size of my network and DHCP pool to something a little smaller. I was thinking 255.255.255.128 for the subnet, 192.168.1.0 for the network, and making the pool from 192.168.1.65 -.127.

Need more information.

The network card issue should be resolvable and recommend you consult post-install hardware changes.

As for changing the network settings, that is a bit more involved. Get the network working first, then we can address the other changes you desire.

For the more info needed:

I'm using Amahi 7. I believe I'm running Fedora 19.

I'm looking at the Post-Install Hardware Change page. Can I just substitute emX where I see ethX? Also, will I need to change anything in etc/sysconfig/network-scripts? Or will making the change in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules change that?

Have you tried enabling the integrated network card and then rebooting the machine? Often Linux adapts to hardware changes and you may not need to do anything.

As for the DHCP Lease range change, that's not supported in Amahi 7. It is however in Amahi 8 if you choose to upgrade. I strongly recommend moving to the newest Amahi version as Amahi 7 is now in Maintenance Support Only status.
