windows 7 on the HDA PDC
windows 7 on the HDA PDC
I can't get W7 to join the domain - same error about the PDC not found... Anyone else had an issue like this?
Re: windows 7 on the HDA PDC
Have you enabled PDC in your HDA Daskboard?
http://hda/setup?sub=0&tab=settings
Click there and enabled "Advanced Features" READ THE WARNING
http://hda/setup?sub=1&tab=shares
Then click there and enable PDC at the bottom. Then follow the wiki page on how to set it all up, then try to connect.

Hope this helps.

Re: windows 7 on the HDA PDC
i tried it with win7 and have the same issue.
i have filed a bug with lots of details and logs: cannot join PDC domain with windows 7
if you could also turn debug on on and make one attempt to join (**after adding the root user and password to samba, PER THE DIRECTIONS**), capturing the logs cleanly (i *think* i have, but not 100% sure), it would be of most help.
it took it a while to recognize things, so you may want to wait a minute or so to attempt things.
there is a mention of active directory in the error message. we're not supposed to be using active directory.

Re: windows 7 on the HDA PDC
actually, after more research,
http://www.nabble.com/Windows-7-RC-td23405949.html
it does look like we need at least samba 3.3.4.
the latest samba for fedora 10 looks like it's 3.2.11, so we'll have to wait a bit for this.
either backport to f10 or wait to f11, which has 3.3.2 and/or perhaps samba4.
sorry.

Re: windows 7 on the HDA PDC
thanks for the help (I guess it would've been intelligent to mention that I have an XP and a Vista box both on the domain already). I'll be patient for the W7 version

Re: windows 7 on the HDA PDC
this is open source. you don't have to wait.
you can recompile the latest samba 3 rpms for f11 in f10 and see if it works.
there are rpms for samba 4 already in the f11 repos too, if you feel more adventurous.

Re: windows 7 on the HDA PDC
