Remote Desktop Suggestions

I am looking for a Remote Desktop solution for my Amahi 7 server. I am using OpenVPN ALS which allows me to add Extensions for RDP or VNC. I can RDP into Windows computers in the network beautifully. Here are the special features of my situation: My Amahi (in Fedora 19) has a Gnome 3 desktop environment installed (What can I say, I like point and click.) I don't want to mess that up. I have tried XRDP to see the Server desktop but the refresh rate is so slow it is really not usable. I followed the directions for setting up a User's VNC (not root) for my main server's user from the TigerVNC on Amahi Wiki (https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/TigerVNC) but Gnome 3 and TigerVNC do not seem to play well.

Here's my questions: What Remote Desktop are some of you using successfully on Amahi 7? Can I do it without messing up my desktop environment for logging in and working at the Amahi 7 / Fedora 19 machine itself?

There is a way to do this without touching the console (where the actual screen is connected to), by running a separate X server, then connect to it via VNC.

You have to concoct some separate settings that you want for your server, then invoke startx, for example:

startx -- -geometry 1280x1024

I think the hard part is to get the options set up. Basically, you run this server in the "background" and connect to it. However, this is too complex to cover here, but it's possible.
