odd home domain issue

Postby leezard » Sat Dec 20, 2014 9:07 pm

New to Amahi and having an odd issue with the home domain. I searched the forums and google for this but had no luck.

When I go to my homedomain mydomain.net on a computer on my local network I get a page not found error, but when I go to the subdomain of an app http://monitorix.mydomain.net/ for example it works fine.

I THINK I might know what the issue is and want to confirm.

I'm using the router/gateway provided by ATT that does not allow me to disable DHCP. I have the gateway DHCP settings configured manually with the IP of my HDA set as the primary and secondary DNS servers. All of my connected devices are getting their IP's from the HDA and everything so far appears to work...other than going directly to the home domain. Is this due to the wonky DHCP set up?

Not sure I understand what you mean by a home domain. In Amahi, it's the appname.domain.com or hda.domain.com.

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding how it works.

in the control panel there is a home domain listed (leezard.net) and it states

Home Domain
This is your home network domain. It is only available inside your home network.

So when I install an app I can access it at appname.leezard.net (this works as intended)

Should I also be able to access leezard.net? (when on my local network)

Thanks for the fast response!

I'm switching my homer server from WHS and gotta say Amahi is pretty damn impressive so far.

Good to hear. You might consider browsing the Amahi wiki as well. There are many tutorials and solutions to common problems and/or questions.
