Is it safe to use hostapd as WiFi hotspot

he guys,

I have a 300N wireless adapter laying around and was thinking of plugging it into my HDA and setting it up as a accesspoint or hotspot for wirelesss. The wireless function of my my providers modem-router is giving me all kinds of problems.

Is it safe to use hostapd to do so?

I found another thread on this forum, but it was from 2010, so I started a new thread.

Hope you guys can help me.

ok, I got the hostapd hotspot working.

My smartphone sees the hotspot, connects to it, but hangs at "getting ip-address".
