Nas Appliance default port needs to be changed

I'm going to make this as simple as poss.
I do not need a dhcp client as most of my network is static
I do not need a remote dns server forwarding to my IP as it is static and I do my own Ip mapping where my domain name is registered if needed.
I cannot use port 80 for the http requests on the Nas appliance as I have a dedicated server running 24/7 that hosts web pages.
I have no real intention of using the appliance remotely as the system is for internal network use only.
All I need is IP Access local to the packages installed If for any reason I need to use an package remotely I will create the required name based map.
What I would like to know is what implications may arise if I make the changes to the system that are needed, in relation to updates and package downloads.
