After a new install of Amahi 7, my samba server won't start.
I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. Thanks.

Check via command line to see why. Also take a look at the /var/log/samba/smbd.log file.

I found the problem to be the VNC app. I did a fresh reinstall and confimed the Samba server was working. As soon as I installed VNC, samba stops working. It looks like there is a problem with the VNC app.

This is frustrating... After yet another fresh install of Amahi I gave it another try to install VNC. First time, it returned errors. Second time around it installed it by, again, broke Samba.

I too had Samba crash after installing VNC. Finally had to re-install Amahi 7 express. (twice)

gave up trying to find a fix.

I think VNC is a nice feature for headless system but it needs to work and not crash samba file server.

This needs further investigation. I have tested VNC and not had it crash Samba. Please provide some log entries to help determine the root cause.

Check in /var/log/amahi-app-isntaller.log or any other log that you thin may be relevant.

It's pointless to look at the log file at this time since it was erased when I re-installed amahi 7 express. However the smb status prior to re-install looked identical to one posted above.

I would not say it's pointless, but rather not possible since you reinstalled. We would like to help diagnose the problem should this happen again.

We have had very few complaints with this app, so there must be something causing the issue that is not routine.
