Ok, trying to set up Putty extension for OpenVPN ALS so that I can send the command to launch WOL script. I have written the script and tested it out in the network and it works well. Every time I launch the Java based Putty (SSH) extension in OpenVPN ALS I get the following warning:
Server unexpectedly closed network connection.
Putty window stays open but is inactive. I don't even get a prompt to login. I have looked for information about the Putty (SSH) extension for OpenVPN ALS and am not finding anything.

Is there something I need to do listed in this wiki?
https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Key-ba ... With_Putty

I would not think I would need to open a port since I am going through the VPN tunnel. I have not tried SSH from within the network. Maybe there is something I need to do there.

Possibly, but not sure. I have not attempted to use OpenVPN ALS (Adito) in this fashion. You might check the Adito forums for assistance. I don't have the URL, but a search on the internet should provide a result.

I tried to Putty into the server from a client in the building and received the same message. This was totally separate from OpenVPN ALS. Any clue why?

Could be a firewall issue. Many firewalls block port 22. If you are using a different port, recommend you check if the network allows that port for access.

Turn firewall completely off on client and still no joy. Is there any firewall change I would need to make for the HDA?

No, it should not be interfering. It may be disabled too.

Found the problem:
sshd.service -OpenSSH server daemon
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/sshd.service; disabled
Active: inactive (dead)
Solution?

Not sure what would cause this as SSH is enabled and running by default in Amahi 7. Do the following to restore it to normal ops:

Code: Select all

systemctl enable sshd.service systemctl start sshd.service
