SOLVED: Network issues

Postby wolfy999 » Wed May 07, 2014 5:52 pm

Hello, I recently moved from an old address to another. I have an internet modem from TWC and a linksys router with dd-wrt. I have the linksys router setup as DMZ in the modem. And I DHCP turned off on the linksys router with my hda running as the dhcp. The webapps work locally, but not across the internet. I cannot reach nickname.yourhda.com but i can reach http://hda. I am running Amahi 6, I followed the network troubleshooting guide manually, however I could not run the automatic network troubleshooting guide. I cannot reach the amahi.net on the hda server.

I am not really sure whats going on, I am running on a new router, but it is configured the same way as the old one.

Not being able to access amahi.net on the HDA indicates a that it cannot see the internet.

BTW, web apps will not work outside your network unless you manually set them up and forward ports on your router to the HDA. There is guidance in the wiki.

Unless you have a paid domain, you may only be able to host a single web app.

Keep in mind opening apps up to outside your network can be a security issue. If you are not Linux savvy, recommend you exercise extreme caution.

If the hda cannot see the internet then how could sickbeard or sabnzbdplus run their operations?

Yeah i have a private webdomain that i use to forward each app.

Must be something else then as you never mentioned it app connectivity with the internet. Could it be a firewall blocking access?

When I ran it the first time to check the server's dns before I shut off my home dhcp I had it into the dmz, and the server was acting the same way. I had peer guardian linux on the server but I disabled it to see if it was causing issues with no avail. It's been really weird

Understand. The more layers you have between the router and the HDA, the more complicated it is to diagnose. Often these additional layers are the cause of issues.

Not sure what else to suggest. I like to keep it simple and I rarely have issues. When I do, it's typically my ISP is the root cause.

If I am on the hda server itself and it cannot reach the amahi.net page what would you suspect the cause is?

That would typically indicate you do not have internet connectivity. You can try pinging the site and see if anything comes back. Best to run the network troubleshooter on a client, not the actual HDA.

Here is what the network troubleshooter showed me.
It failed at step 6.
