Unable to browse network shares

Hi. I am having an issue where windows is not able to browse the hda shares intermittently. My hda is Amahi 7.1 on Hyper-v virtual machine with one NIC dedicated as a virtual switch running as a bridge to my network. I am using the routers DHCP and the HDA DHCP simultaneously because I may have to reboot my Windows machine occasionally and network would be lost from other computers. (Is that bad practice BTW?).

Any suggestions?

there can't be on the same network two DHCP servers
first of all, try to leave only Amahi.7 as DHCP server, and then be sure that your windows machine has the correct settings (IP, DNS, GATEWAY) taken from
Amahi's DCHP server.

then try to browse your shares again.

have a look at this posts too: Cant access shares from laptop

I would prefer the router DHCP to be always available in case I have to reboot my Windows machine. Also the lack of ability to browse the hda shares only happens intermittently.

Running two DCHP servers on the same subnet is asking for trouble. It's your machine, but I would recommend you seriously consider disabling one of them.

Is the Windows machine your router?
