New Web-apps and Alias are not being added into DNS

Postby Atomic » Wed Nov 06, 2013 9:26 am

Hi,

I noticed yesterday when trying to create a new web-app on my Ubuntu Amahi server I could not connect to the new app. After doing some digging I found that the DNS entry for the app has not been added to the bind DNS server.

After discovering this I also tested things like Aliases and discovered I could not longer make new network aliases either.

All entries show up on the HDA dashboard and things like the web-app directories are created. Also the settings are all present in the hda_production sql database. But when looking at the BIND config files nothing for the new web-app is displayed?

Would anyone be able to assist with this?

Many thanks in advance,

Tom

Have you made any configuration changes to your HDA? I thought this was working. Also have you done any OS updates, specifically BIND?

Sometimes when packages are updated they ask if you want to keep the current config or except the package default. If you did not keep the current one, you may have overwritten the one Amahi configured initially.

I have not tested the web app feature lately, but will check on my HDA. I will let you know the results.

Just did a simple test and all worked fine. So something tells me things are amiss with your configuration.

Hi,

Looks like BIND has updated at some point. It hasn't gone back to default settings as all previous DNS entries from before the point it was updated still work. It's just not enabling me to add the new entries? Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

Thanks Tom

Downgrade bind and see if that resolves the problem.

Thanks for the response,

On your test version do you know what version of bind you are using that is working successfully?

Thanks Tom

Have no idea, but doing a downgrade should be sufficient.

I've tried to locate what version i should be on and can't find anything. At present i am on BIND 9.8.1-P1.
Would you be able to run "named -v" so i know what version i need to roll back to?

Thanks Tom

That's the same version I am showing for a default Amahi install. There must be something else causing your issue. If you changed any config files, that could be the culprit.

:? Ahh ok?

I haven't made any changes to the config files manually. I have looked at them to confirm if the entries were being written from the Dashboard and i can see they are not writing successfully.

Is there anything else i can try or check?

Thanks Tom
