Hi
My Amahi works to some extent but
* Amahi Shares occasionaly disconnect
* HDA DHCP refuses to disable
* the shares do not automatically connect when I boot a client PC (Win7)
* the filetransfer speed could be faster (drives are on USB2, oldish PC so maybe understandable)
I want to sort out the first 2 problems first as I think they might be related. The Amahi DHCP service always starts even though I have cleared the 2 checkboxes in the HDA - Settings - Servers - DHCP Server. I have had this problem since day 1 (couple years ago). I do not run the HDA all the time so I must have DHCP in the router. I have a feeling the 2 DHCPs are interfering and causeing the random disconects. I happened to be VNCing into the HDA server at the same time as a Share diconnect happened last night and the VNC disconnected too. So Samba and VNC disconnecting at the same time. A clue I think.
Can other people disable their HDA DHCP servers successfully??
PS I see that my HDA has workgroup HOME and my PCs have workgroup WORKGROUP so I am changeing then to HOME too.
Anyhelp appreciated.
Peter
Cannot disable HDA DHCP (still)
Re: Cannot disable HDA DHCP (still)
To permanently stop DHCP from starting on reboot, do the following as root user in terminal:
/sbin/service dhcpd stop
/sbin/chkconfig dhcpd off
This should prevent it from restart. You can do this with any service in Fedora that you do not want running or want to start on boot.

Re: Cannot disable HDA DHCP (still)
Well its been a year or so and my Amahi DHCP still refuses to stay down. My desired setup is
Amahi DHCP OFF
Amahi DNS OFF (this actually works!)
I have tried the commands mentioned in the previous post but DHCP still seems to re-activeate
Amahi DHCP keeps resetting my client laptop's Ipconfig settings so that DNS server is set to Amahi. Amahi DNS *does* stay disabled so when this happens I get "not found" when surfing. I can fix it by doing ipconfig /release followed by renew. The DNS server then goes back to my WIFI router, for a while...
But this is most annoying and too much for my wife so I keep the Amahi server off much of the time.
Will this ever be fixed. I am starting to get a little peeved

Re: Cannot disable HDA DHCP (still)
This appears to be an isolated incident as mine works fine. Can you check the boot log and see if there is anything there that might help?

Re: Cannot disable HDA DHCP (still)
I'm having the same problem with DHCP coming on randomly, even after I choose to disable it.
Re: Cannot disable HDA DHCP (still)
Update: Got on IRC and CPG had me cycle the "Monitored by Watchdog" checkbox to checked then unchecked. That seemed to do the trick. YMMV
