Cannot access HDA from outside my network

Postby thomasps » Thu Mar 03, 2011 1:32 pm

I can't access my HDA from outside.
Whether I type:
http://myexternalipaddress
http://myexternalipaddress:4040 (4040 is forwarded to my HDA where subsonic-a media streamer- is listening)
it times out .

I did notice that
http://mynickname.yourhda.com
goes into my router...

I am testing this from within my network.

Did you follow the wiki guidance? This is not implemented by default. There are some manual steps required.

I searched the wiki but could not find anything (other than VPN). Could you please direct me to the relevant link?
Thanks.

Perhaps he is referring to this: http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/VPN_troubleshooting.

Hope that helps.

bump-
That link is about VPN (which I have enabled). What I'm wondering is a way to connect from outside without VPN.
I'm sure folks here have done it a lot... subsonic, jinzora, transmission etc are all app that we should be able to connect from outside the network, right?!
