Printing Weirdness

I have a Brother 1250 attached to my HDA that works great from linux clients both inside the network and through the VPN connection. The issue I'm having is with the one XP machine we have. The XP machine sees the printer share, prints test pages and prints from open office but printing from notepad, printing PDFs and printing from a filemaker database all freeze up. If I connect the printer directly to the XP machine printing works great.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had any printing issues with windows and could shed some light on this for me. Before using Amahi I was running an Ubuntu server that had the printer connected so I suppose windows could have something hanging around causing a conflict but I'm not sure where to look.

It sounds like, on that machine, that the Brother printer is not the default printer. Notepad will print to the Windows default printer.
