Using the Network Troubleshooter, I failed step 9 - HDA used as DNS on clients?. Here's a paste to help troubleshoot: http://amahi.pastebin.com/heSVi7xM

I'm trying to get username.yourhda.com to work but so far no luck. Yes, I am testing from outside the network. I am forwarding port 80 to the hda ip address. I ran the network troubleshooter but not sure if that is related or not. Is there something else I need to do to make it accessible?

The error for step 9 is due to the client you are using is not in your network. The network troubleshooter does not apply to machines outside your local network.

The username.yourhda.com will only direct you to your dashboard. You cannot use it just like you are inside the network. See the wiki for how for more info (http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Hosting_a_website.

If you are expecting for it to be accessible from anywhere like it is local, it will not work that way. You can VPN to it for similar functionality, but the using username-yourhda.com is not designed that way.

I think its something simple I am missing for accessing yourhda.com externally but I'm still new to fedora and networking. Eventually I'd like to use php on the site but starting out simple with just an index.html

I followed the steps on the wiki for hosting a website and have the folder setup(/var/hda/web-apps/movies) with a test html file. I can access it from internal by going to http://movies. I'm forwarding ports 80 and 43 to the internal IP address of the HDA computer. What else needs to be done to access the site from external? I installed adito but not sure what that does for me. I installed the web-apps proxy as well and when I open it from internal it just goes to the test html page I setup above.

The problem may be related to your router. Not all use port forwarding for this feature. On my router, I use Virtual Servers which I specify the IP, public and private ports. That allows me to access my HDA from the outside.

Adito is a clientless VPN software. If you have forwarded 443 to the outside on your router, you can access your files or anything you set up in Adito.
