I followed the instructions at http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/VNC
Worked great except..
in the config where you have this
VNCSERVERARGS[2]="-geometry 1024x768 -nolisten tcp -localhost"
i had to get rid of the -nolisten tcp and -localhost flags.
I understand this makes my hda less secure, but i am unclear as how to get it to work with these flags. I am not too concerned at this point as network is closed to outside connections other than my pop and smtp ports for my email server.
However i would like to get it going as secure as possible. I have been doing some reading and am confused. I am currently in school for Windows Server 2008 admin, and trying to keep it all straight in my head, along with the linux "self teaching" i am doing is getting difficult.
Could someone be so kind as to make a simple walk through or "how to" for me? Or even point me in the right direction.
Thanx in advance for your time.
EDIT: Never mind i just looked at http://forums.amahi.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2429
Will try these steps later when my head clears a bit.
Can't install vncserver for headless
Re: Can't install vncserver for headless
I gave up and installed NXserver from Nomachine. Works flawlessly, it's way faster, and the resolution is better. I forget where I found the installation instructions -- I think it was the Amahi Wiki. I used webmin to install the server side. You need to install the client, node, and server packages. When you launch the X-windows session you get a message that gnome crashed. I just ignore it.
