Amahi OpenDNS forwarding

Postby mogwai » Sun Mar 21, 2010 2:09 am

Seeing as Amahi takes over your networks DHCP and dns functionality I was wondering if it logs the local dns lookups anywhere? From a parental control point of view it would be great to see what's been browsed and perhaps even block sites you don't like the look of. An app would be able to do this probably, adding the blocking feature by pointing the ip addresses of sites you don't like to the loopback interface in the hosts file.

no logging is going on. we have thought about this a bit. once we have a more solid native application environment we will probably do this :)

i can't wait!

If you require logging of sites visited, I believe you can get that functionality by creating an account at opendns and enabling logging; then whenever a site is visited that uses amahi's DNS, it should get recorded there.

just browsed through openDNS to see what they were offering, the Deluxe package seems perfect. Thanks for that suggestion, very helpful :)
