Ethernet ports hang

Postby ktheed » Tue Sep 14, 2010 4:42 am

Hi There,

Im a new person to Amahi and have been having an issue with ethernet ports on my ShuttleX machine it is installed on.

I tried with the onboard 10/100 ethernet port and at least once a day the machine has to be restarted as it is as if the ethernet port hangs and stops giving out IP addresses to machines in the house and also cannot be accessed remotley.

I then tried a 1000mbps ethernet card and this is doing the same, they are both realtek chipsets.

I can connect my screen, kyb and mse to the headless server whilst the ethernet port is frozen and everything else seems to work fine apart from anything that uses the ethernet connection.

Im at work at the moment but will ba home later tonight, just though I would start the ball rolling so hopefully ill get a few ideas or requests for certian info from the system for when i get home.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

does the hardware log (command: dmesg) give any clue?
did you try restarting the network (command: service network restart) instead of rebooting the whole machine?
echo '16i[q]sa[ln0=aln100%Pln100/snlbx]sbA0D2173656C7572206968616D41snlbxq' | dc

Please find enclosed a txt file of the log when i run dmesg, this was after a reboot as it was frozen again when i came home from work.

Will this be ok or do you need it whilst its actually frozen, if so I can upload another copy when its frozen.

I havent tried restarting just the network service, next time it freezes after i have got a copy of the log for "Moredruid", if they need it then ill try that.

Thanks for the response so far :-)

hmmm can't seem to find any weird stuff, it would be nice to have a dmesg dump when it's frozen indeed, then we can see if anything happened.
echo '16i[q]sa[ln0=aln100%Pln100/snlbx]sbA0D2173656C7572206968616D41snlbxq' | dc
