We lost power briefly yesterday. After the power came back on I could not access anything outside of my home network. Everything appeared to be OK, DHCP was working DNS was working but a ping of google.com did not work. I resolved the situation by enabling DHCP on my router, once this was on I could ping google.com. I then disabled HDCP on my router and things continue to work correctly. My Amahi server appears to be working correctly and is distributing DHCP'd addresses. After rebooting the server or any of the clients things continue to work correctly. Prior to enabling DHCP on the router I verified that the router had an IP from my ISP (comcast) and was happy, it was.
I then power cycled the cable modem, router and server. Once again no internet until I enabled DHCP on the router. My clients all had IPs that where assigned from Amahi (I could tell from the address range, Amahi is set to assign static addresses in the 192.168.3.20 range and the router uses dynamic 192.168.3.100 range). Amahi obviously uses a static address. After disabling DHCP on the router things continued to work correctly.
Is this a router issue, ISP issue or Amahi issue?
Thanks,
Pete
