Newbie, Multiple Router Issues

Postby faulsjos » Fri May 21, 2010 12:02 am

Hey everyone sorry if this seems like a simple question, i just installed Amahi for the first time and am super excited to start using my new home server! I only have one problem,

I am in an APT and i have two routers hooked up, one is a simple 4 port switch which is what my Amahi server is connected to. On that same 4 port switch i have a linksys wireless router (running dd-wrt) which is what everyone in my apt and my two computer are connected to. The 4 port switch is also a linksys but i switched the IP to start at something like 10.x.x.x where as my wireless linksys is a 192.168.x.x

I want to do two things, i need to figure out how to access my Amahi server from outside using VPN i guess (i'm assuming i'll need to setup a static IP i guess, or just port forward the 4 port switch)

I also need to be able to access this server from my Wireless network seeing as that is where all of our apt computers are located on the network.

Thanks in advance for your support, i just installed a few hours ago and am having issues getting it all up and working!

Why do you have two networks?

Stick to 192.168.1.* ... don't complicate things.

The switch should be a completely transparent bridge.
The wireless should be able to reach your HDA in the switch.

Turn off the DHCP in ddwrt (that is what I do).

keep it simple. Stick to one network. the HDA will come up with a static IP (which you created in the amahi.org control panel profile!).
My HDA: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz on MSI board, 8GB RAM, 1TBx2+3TBx1
