Just wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same.
same machine same everything and after 5.2 update a while ago my file transfers went from about 25-30 mbps to 1.6 mbps
have tried a different nic and a few other things but no change. as far as the wiring its good.. I run a small business that installs network infrastructure (cabling fiber routers etc) I have a $10,000 test set and all of my lines sweep well above gbit capability. all nics are intel gigabit.. same make and model.. routers and switches are all cisco commercial gigbit. (its nice when i do an upgrade and a company throws out 100k worth of stuff)
I am assuming that maybe the samba settings got changed but havent had the time to look..
just curious.. is it me or are there others
tnx
file transfer slow down after 5.2
Re: file transfer slow down after 5.2
hmm. we haven't heard complaints about that. the settings have changed, but they have done so towards the mainstream. see bug 342 for the details. you can try to add those settings back and test?same machine same everything and after 5.2 update a while ago my file transfers went from about 25-30 mbps to 1.6 mbps
can you ping some other computer and interrupt the ping after like 10 seconds to see the % of packets lost?
nice to know it was not the cable. *just today* i got to trace a serious degradation in some machines to either a cable or a port in a switch (not sure yet) and was able to work around it. i guess these things happen. but they are rare and it's good to have test equipment.have tried a different nic and a few other things but no change. as far as the wiring its good.. I run a small business that installs network infrastructure (cabling fiber routers etc) I have a $10,000 test set and all of my lines sweep well above gbit capability.
ok now, you're trying to hurt. if that is indeed the case, please consider making an equipment donation to amahi! we can use more equipment for testing, honestlyits nice when i do an upgrade and a company throws out 100k worth of stuff
