I'm going to make this as simple as poss.
I do not need a dhcp client as most of my network is static
I do not need a remote dns server forwarding to my IP as it is static and I do my own Ip mapping where my domain name is registered if needed.
I cannot use port 80 for the http requests on the Nas appliance as I have a dedicated server running 24/7 that hosts web pages.
I have no real intention of using the appliance remotely as the system is for internal network use only.
All I need is IP Access local to the packages installed If for any reason I need to use an package remotely I will create the required name based map.
What I would like to know is what implications may arise if I make the changes to the system that are needed, in relation to updates and package downloads.
Nas Appliance default port needs to be changed
Re: Nas Appliance default port needs to be changed
Not sure. In theory, disabling these features should not hamper access to files.
This might help.

Re: Nas Appliance default port needs to be changed
Ok thanks that sorts one issue out for me. The most important thing is to keep the ability of downloading the application packages from your server.
One thing I have noticed which might be an issue is the apache sever is not running.
I installed webmin via ssh connection and apache is moaning about a config error suexec enabled. This is pointing to directory change for the www host folder.
If fcgi is being used on the server indicates the suexec will have to be re-compiled.
Or just disable suexec and use cgi which is the easiest solution.
Im going to re-install the nas software again and the root it install the full virtualmin package on it and play with it to see what result come out of it.
i know its the lazy way of configuring a server but its better than looking at a terminal screen.

Re: Nas Appliance default port needs to be changed
We also have Webmin as an application in the Amahi store.

Hope you get it all sorted out.
