12 character password limit?

Postby rdagijones » Wed Mar 12, 2014 7:58 pm

I guess Amahi has a 12 character password limit. (This really should be a warning on the dashboard when creating users. ) 2 Questions:

1. Is this an Amahi or a Fedora problem?

2. How do I change it so that passwords can be longer?

Not sure, but considering how Amahi uses the OS user name and password routines I would anticipate it may be a Fedora limitation. Have you checked the internet?

Based on what I know, Amahi uses the Samba and Linux authentication mechanism, so if there are limits on those it would limit Amahi as well.
2. How do I change it so that passwords can be longer?
No clue. If it's a Fedora or Samba issue, then you will need to find something on the internet that shows how to change it. If it's Amahi, then it would be a bug report and handled through our normal defect correction process.

Found a patch that makes the limit 25 characters.

Code: Select all

Will give it a try.

That may not work as the platform was changed quite a bit in Amahi 7.

If this does, please submit a bug report and attach the file. We will probably need to take a hard look at how it affects other pieces such as shares and apps.
