Wireless network dropout

I have an Amahi box running smoothly, except for when I access the network on my Xbox 360. At random intervals while using the network on the xbox then wireless connection for it and all other wireless devices drops out but the wired devices stay active. This is for both gaming on xbox live and accessing videos through Amahi DLNA.

I am running a D-Link DSL 2642B modem router and I have tried with both Amahi's DHCP server enabled and diabled. I have also tried setting the xbox to have a static IP but neither of these alternatives prevents the dropouts.

Dropouts range from a couple of hours to as little as 30 mins of run time on the xbox. The dropout of the network has only started happening since I've set up Amahi a few days ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see how Amahi can be related. The wireless is handled by the router, all that Amahi would do is supply DHCP/DNS. Since you indicated it continues to happen with Amahi DHCP/DNS disabled, it appears to be something with the router.

Is it fairly new? Maybe its a sign it needs to be replaced. I presume that you turn off the router DHCP/DNS capabilities when you are running the HDA. If not, then that could be the problem. Only one DHCP/DNS server can be running or there will be conflicts.

I had a similar problem some time back, also involving a D-Link router. We have a couple laptops here and anytime somebody would end a session there would be a "bump" that would interupt anybody else using wireless.

I didn't definitively find the exact problem, however the problem did dissappear after a lot of other concurrent work involving the router (firmware update, tightened security settings, changes to wireless settings etc.).

I've seen similar problems that may have been attributed to a neighbor's wifi setup too; most modern home routers are good at dealing with that but in the past I had to change channel selections etc to clear it up.

I'd agree that Amahi likely has nothing to do with this.
