No internet access on HDA

Postby Bobbika » Sat Feb 25, 2012 1:43 am

Hello all,

A week ago I migrated from WHS to Amahi with success! I'm really happy with the system and possibilities, but I'm still learning as I have no experience with Linux or what so ever. So I made a stupid mistake (I think) by doing things that are too advanced for me. I installed Webmin and noticed there were 500+ updates for packages, so I started to update them. The install log showed all was going well, but after a while the updatess started to fail as it couldnt connect to the servers. This is were the problem started, I rebooted the system a few times, as well as the network. I can still reach my shares and control panel, I can also access the HDA through Putty, but the box itself has no connection.
In the control panel > settings > servers the DNS server status is stopped, even though the watchdog and start on boot box are checked, and it refuses to start again. I have been using my HDA as DHCP and DNS server without any problems for a week. Had to reenable the DNS server in the router to be able to connect to the internet on my W7 PC.
The network troubleshooter fails at step 4 > http://pastebin.com/5Vzb3aRS (edit: seems the pastebin is not working anymore, will update when I get home)
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Does your hda have internet access?

If so, I would recommend opening up a terminal and use yum to try and get your system updated properly.

I would try:
sudo yum update

Post any error messages that don't get resolved.

Thanks for your response.

I had no internet connection on my HDA, so I couldn't do any updates or do a new hda install. Due to my limited Linux knowledge I reckon it would be the fastest to do a full Fedora/Amahi reinstall. So I did and everything is working like it should.

Just did the sudo yum update without any problems.

Thanks again.
