Amahi virtualbox networking help

Postby timkelly » Sat Oct 22, 2011 11:31 am

I want to test Amahi with Virtualbox using Ubuntu 11.10 as the host. Following the instructions in http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_on_VirtualBox I am unable to set adapter 1 to Enabled, Attached to: Host-only Adapter this seems to be a bug in Virtualbox. Ultimately I want to deploy Amahi within Virtualbox and obtain an IP address from my router rather than setting up Amahi as the DHCP server. I would like to be able to access the Amahi services from other devices on my network. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Thanks,
-Tim

I got it! I configured the VM's network adapter as bridged, and disabled DHCP via the advance settings. Amahi is now accessible to my network devices.

Hope this helps another newbie like me.

Thanks

Glad you sorted it out. Would you mind adding this guidance to the wiki? It would be easier for others to find should they have the same problem.
