i installed it and had no probs but i did have both rpm fusions installed.
my xmbc see's it under upnp devices but doesn't allow me to select a folder. it only allows genre, album artist.
i'll have a play later..... gotta go and fit a vlan'd network for a local company and then it's parrrrrrrrty!! new years coming!! sore heads all around!

ok, not sure what you (cpg) did to my machine but it now works for the most part, I see movies and pic, i disables music yesterday morning and re-enabled it this morning and also added a new movie. The part that seems not to work is the scanning of the directories after a addition. It appears to be set to 900 seconds

Code: Select all

notify_interval=900
Not sure if that is for rescan or not, but it has been well over a hour and nothing new is seen in the movies.

Other then that it appears to work great. so far no audio/video syncing issues that i had with ushare, i will keep testing

Code: Select all

i only restarted mysql, because it was partially hung. (i think i killed the mysql that comes with squeezecenter - so that may not work well).

the adding of video files worked for me, they show up automatically.

i guess you turned on debug on the amahi-dlna?

or are those logs from someone else?

so far we have audio and pictures in the xbox with no video, iirc.

VLC on Mac can see Amahi - minidlna (the app I did myself, but probably also the Amahi packaged app). It' listed in File > Service discovery > Universal Plug'n'Play discovery
My TV also plays the content without issue (except for ISO files)
Win7 Ultimate Media Center will display my pictures and play music. Unfortunately no video.

don't forget we're trying to get more knowledge into the wiki pages in general and into the DLNA in particular!

would you add that useful tidbit?
(i did not know you could do that with VLC!)

The Windows version of VLC (1.0.2 & 1.0.3 tested) doesn't seem to support this. Weird, but I confirmed this on several sites. VLC on Linux & Mac do support it (the Linux version needs an extra plugin).

Added info to the wiki.

Does anyone know how well it handles subfolders? I've previously added a folder to amahi-dlna.conf that has a few layers of subfolders, e.g.:

Code: Select all

media_dir=V,/var/hda/files/x
with subfolders

Code: Select all

/var/hda/files/x/y/z, /var/hda/files/x/w
.

Somehow it doesn't seem to pick up the files in the children folders even after

Code: Select all

/etc/init.d/amahi-dlna restart
Anyone had any experience with that?

Edit: I should mention, this is with my PS3.

it seems to pick up at least two levels deep for me.

this is with a WD TV Live front end client player. i wonder if this is related to the client ...

I wouldn't have thought so. My PS3 has previously worked fine with Windows 7's Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service and PS3 Media Server.

Hi,

It didn't find any files at all that I added in amahi.conf, but here is what I found out

When I moved/renemed directories within the ones defined It found those direct.
Or did did it for all my files:
/usr/bin/amahi-dlna -R -d -f /var/hda/apps/dlna/amahi.conf
Added "-R" (forces a full rescan") then it found everything under my specified directories.
