how long did it take to build your profile? ie how long before your desktop was up?
did you see anything about "using a temporary profile"
in windows 7, are there any TEMP profiles under C:\Users ?

my W7 currently has incremental temp profiles that are not deleted on exit which is a serious issue as the drive would fill up very quickly.
it takes about 15s to build the profile and throws up a "using temporary profile" warning.

not convinced the issue is with samba but more with windows.

Nice job lou1z. I'm a noob with the domain mode but i can learn. There was no pop up about a temporary profile. Can you explain that profile thing. I don't know what's is doing. I can't find any profiles under C:\users... Maybe we can join Irc...

Hi Marcel......
now that you have joined the home domain, you will find that you should have 2 x entries below your username and password when you ctr+alt+del in W7 ie your pc name & your domain name ie HOME
if you select HOME, you should enter your amahi username and password that you have on the system and use for your shares. this is obviously being achieved as you have drive mappings in your screenshots.
in W7, under C:\Users, you should have various profiles and the you should see something like <username>.HOME rather than just <username>
that is your profile and in it you will see things like desktop, documents etc

do you see this?

Hi Louis,

Looked for profiles but can't find any profile. There is nothing ending with <username>.HOME (enabled hidden, system files). I think there is something wrong with PDC. I have to execute the logon.bat manually to see my hard drive mappings. Are there any steps that i missed in the wiki?

that's not right. have you checked your samba logs on the hda in /var/log/samba
you should see your pc name in there as a log itself.

i've certainly got errors in mine that i can't seem to fix at the mo.

checked /var/log/samba and found this in my log:

Code: Select all

[2009/12/08 21:20:15, 0] auth/auth_sam.c:355(check_sam_security) check_sam_security: make_server_info_sam() failed with 'NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH USER'
Delete the old log and logout with my client and then login back again. It gave this error in the log.

well, i've tried. i'm unsure as to whether 3.4.2 in amahi will do it. i think we may need 3.4.3+

from the samba site:

Major enhancements in Samba 3.4.3 include:

o Fix trust relationships to windows 2008 (2008 r2) (bug #6711).
o Fix file corruption using smbclient with NT4 server (bug #6606).
o Fix Windows 7 share access (which defaults to NTLMv2) (bug #6680).

and that's just a few from 3.4.2

if i comment out the profile path in smb.conf, windows log's on fine and a local profile is created instead of a temp profile.

remove the comment out and windows logs on with the previously created local profile and complains about the roaming profile.
definetely some sort of authentication issue me thinks. i've tweaked everything that i know of and still no success.

ummmmmm.....
I MAY HAVE IT..... NOT SURE

i can now create a roaming profile. i changed the permissions in /var/hda/domain-settings/profiles to 0777 to this file/subfolders

a profile was created using <username>.V2 (which is right) and that profile has 0700 permissions
