Install Script

Is there a way the install scripts can be made interactive? To install both of the programs I've packaged (HAMWeather and the Scanner Server), I need information from the user. The install scripts are set up to obtain that, but they're never shown.

If that's not possible, is it possible to leave the install script in the web-app directory? Then I can have the user run it themselves via the special instructions.

Just a thought ... you could set it up so the first time the web app is run it runs a web page you create that runs your install script (or a web enabled variant of it)

Yeah, that's a great idea (especially for what these apps need!), but it's a little beyond my abilities.

I've compromised on having the install script create a script that the user can then run. Not quite as elegant, but avoids the whole root permissions problem, and does what I need it to.
