Amahi 7 alpha 5 release!

Postby cpg » Sat May 18, 2013 8:21 pm

Say hello to my little friend, Amahi 7 alpha 5!

Go ahead and install [Wiki=Fedora_18]Amahi 7[/Wiki]!

Only x86 32 and 64 bit are supported in this release

This new release contains:
- much enhanced server control area, which should be nearly fully functional
- new theme setup area under Settings > Themes
- new networking tab, with dhcp leases, static allocation of hosts and aliases, settings area to control the DHCP lease (and more later)
- lots of UI bugfixes improving the user interaction

This pretty much makes it feature complete and now we want to start turning our attention to apps.

Thanks and please report any issues you come across!

I bet this question has often been there but:

When changing vom Ubuntu release to this (yes new install), i can re-use my greyhole drives without dataloss? Do i have to do anything special then? Or is it ok to just unplug them before install and then reconnect when system is ready?

And is this version able to upgrade to final when available?

This is an alpha version -- there is no guarantee that it will upgrade to the final release.

This version does not include Greyhole, yet. Sorry.

I'd like to toss in a release suggestion, having tried to test a few different Fedora desktops with Amahi 7...

1. Go with XFCE... quicker boot, lower resources, minimal desktop for new users
2. hold off on the Greyhole UI, but be sure to make the app FREE
3. ensure there's a drive-adding function in the stock dashboard.
4. don't rush anything.

that is all.
