Yea, I don't recall it asking for a host name when I installed.
Ok so in order to narrow down the scope of the F18 server name issue I did a complete new install on my bench machine:

1. F18 requires a hostname to be entered during install. I entered "localhost" as this is a default on F18. This maintains compatibility with the /etc/hosts file so that appending the Amahi server name would not be required.
2. I rebooted and the httpd service did not come up, as I expected.
3. I added "ServerName localhost" to the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file and rebooted.
4. I successfully was able to connect to hda, login, and change the hda account password.
5. Just to be sure I rebooted the server one more time.
6. I was able to connect again.

So it looks like a server name needs to be added to the httpd.conf file? I don't know if this is something that needs to be addressed in the A7 development? If prior Amahi/Fedora releases this was never an issue, is this something new to Fedora?

Are you using the 32-bit network install disc? I just don't remember having to add a host name when I installed last week. Guess I need to do another install.

After installing the A7 alpha 2 I observed the following:

1. For my bench server it still appears as "Waiting install". Is the updating of this piece still to be done?
2. I noticed in the hda apps tab that apps that I normally have access appear in the list. Is this just a static list. The apps will not install. Is this piece still to be done? Is there a way from the F18 command line something that can be issued to install an app?

If the above items are still in development then I guess I will start playing more with headless installation research and testing.

It's important you read the Fedora 18 wiki page :) It says:

IMPORTANT: Apps are in testing. No apps are publicly available in Amahi 7/Fedora 18

If you do not follow the wiki guidance, it is likely your install will fail.

Yes, app installation is probably broken. We typically get to apps towards the end of the release preparations ...

As for the rest, thanks for the logs ... will take a look soon.

I learned that lesson a while back LOL Also learned it's difficult to add a desktop to the net install. Once I had it installed, it got kinda freaky.

Managed to install Amahi on F18 (great! :) but it seems like it takes an eternal to assign an user root rights despit the user join successfully the group wheel.

So step by step:
create an user successfully (lets name him tmp)
After creation edit the user by ticking "Admin"
One will see 4 dots rotating the whole time. Despite the user is already member of the group wheel.

Btw: I had to access amahi over the adress http://localhost. http://hda doesnt work.

Any further suggestions on what to do about the Raspberry Pi install?
