Looks like /var/hda/plaform/log directory is missing. Once added, do:

service httpd restart

The web server will start, but goes to default apache web page. It appears httpd.conf still needs some work. I did notice one line for /var/www/html still uncommented.

I tried added log directory but still got error see my other post but after I read the error log I posted I could see that it should have been a directory called logs

Progress made today. More bugs in hda-platform have been fixed. Following the wiki guidance should net a successful install and the HDA dashboard.

There are no users installed by default, so to log in you need to create one:

useradd -c 'Amahi User' -g users -G wheel yourusername passwd yourusername

You will then be able to log in and see 3 tabs, users, shares, and apps. The app installs have not been set up yet, so nothing will work. We need to exercise the users and shares functions to ensure they work.

We are getting closer, so hopefully a release goal date will be announced soon!

Getting to the dashboard is a great milestone!

Yeah! Thanks for everyone's help (incl. mattman, effem, ...), but especially for your help!

We made tremendous amount of progress today!

Looks like all the big subsystems are mostly working, at least the HTTP server, the DNS server, the watchdog monitor and the installer is working ok!

Now is when we will need a lot of help and attention to detail! Here comes the hard part of getting the dashboard, apps and final packaging ready!

I have added a user and tried to open a shared folders from a win 7 pc after entering username and password my pc just hangs then I get Access is denied.

dashboard - when first looking on the apps tab it looked like the 'get apps' & 'install here!' was print twice on the screen after I move to a different tab and the returned it look ok, this may have been my laptop I was using. I have tried to get this to do the same again but as yet I have not.

Hi all,

I just tried installing Amahi on Fedora18.
FIRST OF ALL: It installed

Here is what I did step by step:
1.) Download Fedora18 from:
http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/f ... esktop.iso

2.) Install VM from ISO-Immage
Important: Use Workstation 6 Compatibility as Installation will fail with Workstation 9

3.) update Kernel (3.7.4)
su -c 'yum update kernel'
reboot

4.) Install VMware Tools
yum install gcc
yum install kernel-headers kernel-devel
cp /usr/src/kernels/3.7.4-204.fc18.i686/include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h /lib/modules/3.7.4-204.fc18.i686/build/include/linux/
./vmware-install.pl


Now Amahi:
5.) rpm -Uvh http://f18.amahi.org/noarch/hda-release ... noarch.rpm

6.) yum -y install hda-ctl hda-platform

7.) rpm -e hda-ctl hda-platform && yum clean all

8.) Snapshot from vmware taken.

9.) yum clean all

10.) yum -y install hda-ctl hda-platform

11.) hda-install [MYCODE]

12.) reboot

Now the tests

First Set of TESTS:
+ amahi.org says HDA is running
+ HDA Dashboard available and reachable via Browser.
+ Dashboard is showing shares
+ Dashboard is showing apps I purchased

- Dashboard is not showing network tab
- Shares can't be edited via Dashboard
- Shares seem to have no rights

Will go to bed now as it's a workday today and tomorow for me.
I'll look deeper into the logs tomorow and try to figgure out what stuff is not working and if I can find out why.

Shall I upload logfiles somewhere?
If so, which ones, how and where?

I would like to suggest we start diagnosing/working of different areas, ...

The parform is the area of my focus, as there is a bunch of work there, as you suggested.

Anyone up for other areas?
