Hi, thanks for the reports! In the last 8~14 hours we did a rather large set of changes, mostly to hda-ctl. The changes include:
  • making hda-ctl a systemd service (not an init.d service any more)
  • major cleanup in the installer
  • using NetworkManager API more appropriately to avoid wlan (and in general non-ethernet) devices
  • major cleanup of the rpm spec to do things more by-the-book
  • attempt to get the proper share folders and names synchronized with the platform (not quite done with this)
  • ... and much more
As you can see, the changes were rather massive and we will need to circle back to testing hda-ctl, but it seems rather stable now (at least starts, stops, restarts and it receives and executes commands from the platform properly).

One major problem we found is that temporary files created by the apacha web server are now "magically" segregated from each other ... so if we open a file /tmp/foo ... it does not get created in /tmp/foo ... but rather in /tmp/systemd-HwY7s9Z/foo ... all in the name of security. This causes quite a chaotic environment in the platform, which runs under apache and will need to get this fixed in a more portable way. A problem is that the system tells you the file is in /tmp/foo even though it's not there.

We will see how we solve this one, but it definitely threw us for a major loop yesterday!

Hmm... cant access my shares:

[root@localhost ~]# fpaste /var/log/samba/log.smbd
http://fpaste.org/8aHu/
[root@localhost ~]# fpaste /var/log/samba/smbd.log
http://fpaste.org/O3DU/
[root@localhost ~]# fpaste /var/log/samba/nmbd.log
No text to send.
[root@localhost ~]# fpaste /var/log/samba/172.31.1.146.log
http://fpaste.org/Zh73/
[root@localhost ~]# fpaste /var/log/samba/eletiomel.log
http://fpaste.org/VD2R/

At next it seems like my HDa cant install any App. It hangs at "Preparing to install". There is also a problem with named, as I have to access my HDA over the ip-adress. hda or hda.home.local doesnt work

Just did another fresh install.

Status of today:
control panel @ amahi.org does not show my new HDA as "running" but still as "Waiting install"
shares are not accessable and there exist no folders below /var/hda/files at all.
can't get into dashboard as login always fails.

OK, problem with the web server tmp files is fixed.

Released a new repo bits!

Please report how it works. Shares should work now, ... any changes in Setup > Shares should be reflected in Samba settings and take effect immediately after making the change!

Well it takes some minutes until new smb-shares are visible. But it seems like hda works good together with smb.

Yes, thanks for the report.

We did a bunch of fixes that I think bring things up to a fairly decent point.

We found that DHCP does not provide a PID file, which is a pain, because we can not put it in the watchdog as it and we will have to patch it, sadly.

Here are the things to do:

- figure out what are the proper, safe, sound virtualhost options for php in apache 2.4 (this is new)
- greyhole integration (this is a hard one)
- general app install/uninstall and corner cases
- lots of other details, like networking tab, etc., etc.

If you feel that you want to hack in any above, fixes would be most welcome!

Special thanks to bigfoot65 for all the help in testing today!!
