prototype of router/firewall control

Postby cpg » Mon Jun 22, 2009 2:54 am

hi all,

we have some prototype version of the amahi platform that has modular support for router and firewall control.

the idea is that with it, and some help from modules, we can add control of routers and firewalls, whether local (shorewall, iptables, edgewall, ...), or remote (routers/gateways via http).

here is some documentation for developers:

http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/RouterControl

the modules are relatively simple, in ruby. we can make them simpler as we detect patterns of commonality.

it's a bit preliminary and could use some more modules, so, if someone is interested in developing a control module for, say, shorewall, or iptables, or some routers, let us know here and we can coordinate to make it happen.

thanks!

Hi cpg,

I'd be interested in beta testing the HDA platform changes which include router/firewall controls. Rampage talked like this may be ready for testing soon. Is there a release roadmap for these platform mods?

awesome! yes it's available for testing!

and it's actually documented (!) in the Router Control page in the wiki.

we're getting close to releasing it, to, so your testing would be great.

will send a PM with the URL to the platform rpm, since we should not be making it widely available yet.
